Using PayPal in your website

This week we learned how to add a button from PayPal to let people make purchases from your website. It's actually really simple, you need to go to this website: http://www.paypal.com/buttonfactory and then configure the options for your button, then in the following page you copy the code of the button and paste it into your website.

We, in the class, had a few concerns about PayPal. How do they handle frauds? Do they tend to favor customers over vendors? What's PayPal commissions for their service? After talking about this with other classmates I concluded frauds aren't that frequent in PayPal and, since it's a really solid company, it is a good option, in spite of those doubts. We also learned about the difference between a “shop now” and a “add to the cart” button. Basically, the first one sends you right away to the payment page, while the other allows you to continue shopping, and then you can pay for your items.
Next week we’ll be building our website and that will be the real test of what we’re learning.
