Creating a website
The big project
of this week was to publish our own website. It was challenging and satisfying.
My wife and I worked on this together. It was the first time we did something
like this. The website address is cocotinas.com. We wanted cocotina.com but it
was already taken. I learned how to know who the owner of a website is. You
only need to go to who.is and then write the address and the information about
the owner will appear (if it’s not private) and most importantly, the
expiration date of the domain property. Cocotina.com will be available in 7
months more, and considering the website is abandoned and unfinished we think we’ll
get it then.
As site builder
I chose wix.com. All thing considered, I'm happy with my decision.
The pros are: It’s really easy to use. It has great templates.
They have thought about everything, you can add a cart shop, pay online,
options for your products, shipment costs, inventory control, etc. It’s really
well made to create an online store.
The cons: it is expensive. Everything
has a price, I first chose “the most popular” option only to learn that with it you
cannot offer online payments. Probably I could have added the code, but I didn’t
have time (nor willingness) to do it, so I paid. Email accounts are offered at
a reduced price the first year, which I think is a good option.
